OUR RESPONSE TO COVID-19

Coutts responded to the pandemic by offering clients repayment holidays on mortgages, supporting businesses with loans of up to £50 million through government schemes, and running events on topics ranging from a COVID-19 vaccine to property. We published guides to help clients keep busy during lockdown and issued warnings about
coronavirus related scams.

We’ve helped clients, businesses, communities and charities through the pandemic.

OUR CHARITY WORK

Our people choose charities for Coutts to support for up to two years, based on a particular theme such as mental health or poverty.

We then raise money for those charities through special staff events, and our people also volunteer for the organisations.

Our current partner charitY IS FUTURE FRONTIERS:

Future Frontiers - an award-winning education charity working with schools and businesses across the UK to provide a programme of coaching and access to professional role models to young people aged 13-18. The programme exists to ensure young people from disadvantaged backgrounds are equipped with the knowledge, skills and mindsets to achieve their potential at school and when transitioning to destinations in education, employment or training.

All staff at Coutts are also able to take up to three days off each year to support any charity of their choice.

WE ALSO SUPPORT:

  • We have a long relationship with homeless charity The Connection at St Martin’s, which helps thousands of people every year move away from and stay off the streets of London. It is based near our HQ on the Strand in London.

It is one of the key charities supported by the Coutts Foundation, which is independent of but supported by Coutts. The foundation gives grants to the charity, while Coutts staff arrange fundraising activities and volunteer to help by serving lunch in their kitchen on a weekly basis.

  • We donate food grown in our Skyline Garden on the roof of our London office to The Felix Project. The charity takes surplus food that would have gone to waste and ensures it reaches vulnerable people, the homeless, people with mental health issues or those who simply can’t afford it.

  • MoneySense is our parent company NatWest Group’s free financial education programme. It aims to help those aged five to 18 towards a better financial future using fun activities, games and other resources, including the interactive game Island Saver. Our people volunteer to bring their real-life expertise and experience of money to the classroom, and help teachers deliver dedicated workshops.

  • Teams across Coutts regularly volunteer to help the community through TCV. Activities include gardening, painting fences and building children’s play areas.

  • We have a strong partnership with this London school that sees our people mentoring teachers and students, tutoring maths and English, and helping out at events such as sports day.

  • We are a Founding Partner of The Queen’s Green Canopy. This is an initiative to celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 by encouraging the planting and protection of trees, in line with the ‘right tree, right place, right reason’ principle,  as a legacy to Her Majesty’s 70 years of Service.

We are committed to working in partnership to assist with the planting of trees in schools and deprived urban areas (through partner Trees for Cities) alongside supporting the development of bursaries through Capel Manor College, where The Queen Mother was Patron, to support young people to develop green skills and find employment.

THE COUTTS FOUNDATION

The Coutts Foundation helps tackle the causes and consequences of poverty by supporting numerous organisations that adopt a sustainable approach to dealing with them. It is independent of Coutts but supported by the bank.
